TacitSoft Package Distribution
One public enrollment surface for installing TacitSoft tools across Linux, FreeBSD, Helm, Homebrew, generic archives, and OCI.
Public distribution catalog
Context
A tool is not operationally useful if every platform receives a different undocumented installation path.
Constraint
Enrollment snippets, signing expectations, package lineage, and public endpoints must stay consistent across ecosystems.
Work
TacitSoft implemented a governed catalog for APT, DNF/YUM, APK, pacman, pkg, Helm, Homebrew, generic release archives, and OCI distribution.
Architecture
- A shared catalog drives platform-specific enrollment instructions
- Package lineage remains explicit across repositories and artifact formats
- Public repository and registry destinations are separated by ecosystem
- Automated tests pin enrollment snippets to their approved authority
Verified current state
The public catalog provides one copyable installation entry point for nine distribution lineages and masks unfinished tool listings by default.
- Evidence strength
- Live public system with contract tests
- Evidence basis
- Public repository endpoint, governed catalog, pinned enrollment fixtures, and Laravel coverage for masking and link integrity.
Operating responsibility
TacitSoft owns the public enrollment catalog and repository endpoint. Individual tool support and release status remain explicit per package.
What remains private
No private package, registry credential, customer repository, or unpublished tool is exposed.
